The Parques Reunidos group has acquired all of Faunia, a dedicated animals located in Madrid leisure centre. The company, which managed these facilities since 2009, estimates that they will receive 400,000 visitors this year.

Faunia, which opened its doors in 2001, has more than 12,000 animals of 184 species living along 14 hectares in four ecosystems (the jungle, African forest, temperate rainforest and poles) and 16 subject areas. Has, in addition, more than 15,000 plant specimens of some 1,000 different species.
The company estimates that 400,000 people will visit Faunia in 2015, as explained by the director of the division of Zoology of Parques Reunidos and patron of the Foundation Parques Reunidos, Jesús Fernández. At the same time, pointed out that “the acquisition of this large park will affirm the commitment to parks joined together with the education and conservation, connecting our visitors with wild animals and the habitats where they live, creating unforgettable moments”.
Since its opening and management by the Group Bankia, Faunia has played an important role in conservation, education and research, as established for the modern zoos Worldwide Zoos and aquaria for conservation strategy (WZACS).
