Orbitz reduces profits 90 by 2014
Orbitz American online agency reached benefits of 17 million dollars (15 million euros) in 2014, representing a decline of 90% compared to the 165 million dollars (144 million euros) for the year 2013.
However, the income of the OTA increased by 10%, from 847 million dollars (741 million dollars) last year to 932 million dollars (816 million euros) of this.
The fourth quarter was positive in terms of benefits, getting the company 7.2 million dollars (6.3 million euros) in earnings, 37% more than the 5.3 million dollars (4.6 million euros) from the previous year.
Billing for the period reached 220 million dollars (192 million euros), 12% more than the 197 million dollars (172 million euros) for the fourth quarter of 2013.
The volume of gross throughout the year reserves reached the 12.427 million dollars (10.884 billion euros), an annual increase of 9%. The number of hotel nights booked rose by 17%, a percentage lower than the 18% attained the previous year.
As reported by News HOSTELTUR tourism last week in Expedia buy Orbitz by 1,200 M €, the great OTA American has decided to buy this rival, being the third acquisition of another agency online carried out in four months, after the purchase of Travelocity and the autraliana Wotif.
