Mobile applications and the new revolution in tourism

For its part, the III study IAB Spain on Mobile Marketing, published by HOSTELTUR in “The Mobile Marketing in Spain”, provided that between now and 2016, traffic data through smartphones will be multiplied by ten.
Is that Smartphones have brought with them a new revolution of tourism. Without going any further, Apple is betting strong on this market niche and an example of this is iTravel (Apple creates iTravel to become new tourist intermediary), a new platform with the company aims to become a new tourist intermediary.
Users of such devices require increasingly more complete and applications meant to cover the needs of increasingly segmented audiences.
Without however is the popularization of smartphones having impact in Spain? According to the study by IAB Spain mobile marketing in Spain published by the end of 2011, seven of every 10 users access the internet via mobile phone; 40% has a smartphone and 8% also has a Tablet model.
However, in the sector of tourism, apparently, bussiness Spanish travel stays behind in mobile technology. According to statements by Alicia Estrada, of Gebta, during the National Congress of Business Travel-IBTA, in Spain only use mobile phones to check-in at hotels and receive alerts providers.
This infographic shows the results of the study, where we also found that the most downloaded apps have to do with the Leisure and entertainment sector, but in the ranking, we did not find any application related to the tourism sector.
However, it seems that much remains to be done in the tourism sector so the market of applications for mobile devices have a remarkable weight in the industry.
