Marriott International recorded a net profit of 753 million dollars (664,3 million euros) in 2014, representing 20.2% more compared with the profit in the previous year, reported the hotel group.
The volume of business increased 8%, 13.796 million dollars (12.172 billion euros), compared to 12.784 billion dollars (11.284 million euros) from a year earlier.
Operating result was 1.159 million dollars (1.023 million euros), representing an increase of 17% compared to the year 2013.
Costs decreased 7% in 2014, to 12.637 million dollars (11.155 billion euros).
In the last quarter of the year, won 197 million dollars (173.7 million euros), 30.4% more than the same period of the previous year, while turnover reached 3.559 million dollars (3,141 million euros), representing a rise of 11%.
Revenues per available room (RevPar) grew by 6.3% in 2014, while average occupancy reached 73.7% (2.1 percentage points) and (ADR) daily average price rebounded 3.3 percent.
In the international business, RevPar grew an average of 5.1%, with increases of 2.7% in Europe, from 9.4% in Caribbean and Latin America, from 8.1 per cent in the Middle East and Africa and 5% in Asia-Pacific.
A 5.7% over offer
Hotel Group added 70 new properties (14.605 rooms) to its portfolio around the world during the last quarter of the year and divest 22 properties (1,851 rooms).
Marriott closed 2014 with a total of 714.765 rooms, which means increase by 5.7% the offer of the giant hotelier with respect to the year 2013. Of them, AC Hotels by Marriott added 9.311 rooms, one 9.6% increase. The company has 180 accommodation project, for an approximate range of 30,000 rooms.
Hotel chain in January signed the definitive agreement for the purchase of the Canadian company Delta Hotels and Resorts by 135 million dollars (119.2 million euros), which will add 100,000 more rooms to its portfolio.
Good forecasts to 2015
President and Chief Executive of Marriott International, Arne Sorenson, emphasized agreements to incorporate 100,000 rooms (38 Hotels), which will boost its business line to 240,000 rooms.
“With the strength of our portfolio, we expect to reach a million open rooms or developing much before the end of 2015,” said.
Looking to the first quarter of 2015, the hotel expected to increase between 4% and 6% your RevPar at a constant rate and between 5% and 7% in North America.
For the full year, the expected increase will fall in a range between 5% and 7% in all markets in which it operates.
With this scale, is confident its revenue per available room to climb to between $ 1,875 million and 1,915 million dollars (1.655 billion euros and 1,690 million euros), with an increase of between 9% and 11%.
