International traffic in Spain increased by 7% and domestic 2.5% in January
Spanish airports have closed last January with more than 7.64 million passengers on international flights, which represents an increase of 7% compared with the same month in 2014; while in domestic traffic exceeded the 3.82 million passengers, picking up a 2.5% compared to the same period of the previous year. In total, with almost 11.54 million passengers in departure or arrival in the whole of the Aena network, as announced a few days ago the Minister of development, Ana Pastor, traffic has improved by 5.3% compared to the same month of 2014 and shows a growth continued during the past 15 months.
El Adolfo SuÃ¡rez, Madrid-Barajas airport is maintained as the airport infrastructure with greater network traffic, with nearly 3.15 million travelers, 9.7% more than in January of 2014, adding a year whole continued growth.
El Barcelona – El Prat Airport is the second network, with one traficode of more than 2.2 million passengers, representing a growth of 4.9%.
Also achieved widespread in ridership growth of Pablo Ruiz del Sol tourist airports with 644.750 ( 9.5%) Palma de Mallorca with 564.900 ( 2.6%), Alicante-Elche with 498.596 ( 7.6%) or Ibiza with 106.430 ( 10.7%) and getting in addition record in passengers for the tenth straight month.
In Canary Islands airports, Gran Canaria Airport almost reached one million passengers in one month with 981.267 ( 1.5%) and the Tenerife South with 817.548 ( 1.9%). Highlights also the airports of Lanzarote with 451.791 passengers ( 2.8%) in January 2015, Fuerteventura with 369.743 ( 5.3%) and the airport of La Gomera with an increase of 39%.
Also highlights the increase of passengers in the airports of Seville with a 9.8% (and 250.559 travellers); Valencia, a 6.7% (271.239); Santander, 11.1% (39.240); Federico GarcÃa Lorca Granada-JaÃ©n, a 6.6% (46.904) which represent the best data from 2010, or Santiago with a 4.9% more and 126.832 travellers.
In terms of the number of transactions in January were counted in all airports of the Aena network a total of 120.307 movements of aircraft, which translates into an increase of 3.3% in the same month of 2014.
In this section, Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas is the airport where there was a greater number of takeoffs and landings in January with 27.257 in total, 5.7% more, of which 18,038 were international operations ( 8.8%). Was followed by that of Barcelona – El Prat operated 18.317 aircraft (- 0.3%) of which were international 12.553 ( 2.5%).
Stand out, in addition, the number of entries registered at the airports of Gran Canaria with 9,243 (- 0.8%) total operations, Palma de Mallorca 5.951 ( 6.5%), Pablo Ruiz of the Sun 5.777 ( 2.1%) or Tenerife South 5.619 (- 0.1%).
