Equatorial guinea seeks the support of spain to boost tourism

“Spain has the knowledge of the tourism, hospitality and leisure and is a world power in that sense for what we want to count on the support of Spanish businessmen”, said the Minister of State, responsible for tourism of Equatorial Guinea, Tomás Mecheba, at the Chamber of Commerce of Madrid, during a recent trip to Spain, within a series of visits is made by several countries to seek investors. In order to diversify its economy and reduce its dependence on oil, Equatorial Guinea, one of the African countries receiving less tourists, launched in 2007 the National Plan for economic development and Social, Horizon 2020 and has made a great effort of investment in improving the infrastructure. The goal is to “make of Equatorial Guinea an emerging country economically in 2020”, said Mecheba.tomas Mecheba also met with the Secretary of State for tourism, Matilde Asián, to explore new forms of tourism collaboration. The Minister acknowledged that they have no previous experience in this activity, which “bilateral cooperation will be welcome, especially from Spain”. And invited the companies to visit the country and meet the opportunities afforded to them, at the time that emphasizing that “there is legal certainty for investment”. It also noted that the visa policy is under review in order to make this process more flexible.  .
